About This Role Overview The Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor provides assessment, case management, discharge planning, crisis intervention, individual therapy, and group therapy for patients on the Acute Care Unit and in Acute Recovery Services at the Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (JFKADATC) in Black Mountain. Responsibilities Conduct thorough assessments of patients, identify risk of dangerousness, and develop treatment plans. Provide individual and group therapy using evidence‑based practices. Coordinate with multidisciplinary team and community agencies for treatment. Participate in crisis intervention and discharge planning. Maintain accurate clinical documentation. Qualifications Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Counseling, Social Work, Psychology). Valid NC license as a Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) or Clinical Supervisor Intern (CSI); trainee (LCASA) may be considered if no fully qualified applicants apply. Minimum of 2‑3 years of experience in substance abuse treatment. Proficiency in motivational interviewing, trauma‑informed care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
